Dubai RTA 83rd Online Auction: 150 Premium Number Plates

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced another premium plate sale through its 83rd online auction, offering 150 three-, four- and five-digit number plates for private vehicles, classic vehicles and motorcycles. The auction details were published in the official RTA announcement and also reported by Gulf News.

Registration opened on Monday, July 20, 2026. Bidding started on Monday, July 27, 2026 at 8:00 am and ran for five days through RTA's online auction platform.

Which plate codes were included?

The auction covered a broad spread of Dubai codes: A, H, I, K, L, M, N, O, P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, X, Y and Z. That mix matters because buyers often compare the digit pattern and code together, not the number alone.

Three-digit plates usually attract the strongest attention in this type of auction, but clean four- and five-digit combinations can still perform well when the number has a memorable pattern, a sequence, repeated digits or personal significance.

Participation rules and fees

RTA's auction terms required participants to have a Dubai traffic file. A refundable AED 5,000 security deposit and a non-refundable AED 120 participation fee applied, and sold plates were subject to 5% VAT.

Successful bidders were required to settle the payable amount within 10 working days after the auction closed. RTA listed payment options through its website, Customer Happiness Centres and authorised service provider centres, depending on the amount.

What this means for Dubai plate values

Online RTA auctions are useful market signals because they show demand across a wider range of plates than the high-profile hall auctions, where headline two-digit or single-digit plates often dominate attention.

For valuation purposes, the important signals are the code, digit count, number pattern and scarcity. A three-digit plate with a weaker pattern can be less attractive than a four-digit plate with a clean repeated or round number, especially when buyers are looking for a memorable daily-use plate rather than a trophy asset.
