1. Scope

This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, shared, stored, and deleted when you use the Platform, including capturing or uploading images, requesting license plate extraction and valuation, posting to community features (including a public leaderboard), using marketplace and chat features, and interacting with other users.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Account information

We collect information needed to create and manage your account and authenticate you.

Authentication methods

Email address and/or phone number used for authentication via one-time password (OTP), if you choose OTP sign-in.

Sign in with Apple: we receive an account identifier and, depending on your Apple settings, your name and an email address (which may be an Apple private relay address).

Sign in with Google: we receive an account identifier and, depending on your Google account settings and the permissions you grant, your name, email address, and basic profile information.

Optional profile information

You may optionally provide:

• username
• profile picture
• first name
• last name
• nationality
• country
• emirate

Providing optional profile information is voluntary and not required to use the core valuation functionality.

2.2 Camera and image data

Images you capture using your device camera or upload manually.

Images may include vehicle license plates and surrounding context.

User consent for image capture and upload

Camera access and photo uploads are strictly optional and initiated only by the user. The Platform requests access to the device camera and/or photo library solely to enable you to capture or upload an image for license plate extraction and valuation. No images are captured, accessed, or uploaded without your explicit action. You may deny or revoke camera/photo access at any time through your device settings without losing access to other parts of the Platform.

2.3 Processing and valuation data

• Extracted license plate attributes such as plate number, code, and emirate.
• Estimated valuation results generated for you.
• Timestamps and usage records related to valuation requests and feature usage.

2.4 User-generated content and interactions

• Public leaderboard posts (when you choose to publish them).
• Marketplace listings (offers and requests).
• Comments.
• User-to-user chat messages.
• Reports and blocking actions.

Chat messages, listings, comments, and other user-generated content may contain personal data depending on what users choose to share.

2.5 Technical and diagnostics data

• App version, device type, and operating system.
• Error logs and crash diagnostics.

2.6 Local storage on your device

The Platform may store limited information locally on your device using app storage or cache mechanisms to support functionality, performance, and user experience.

Local storage may include authentication state, app settings, and temporary data required for operation. This data can be removed by signing out, clearing the app's storage or cache in your device settings, or uninstalling the app.

2.7 Anonymous usage-limit identifier (random app-installation ID)

We may generate and use a random app-installation identifier (an anonymous usage-limit ID) to enforce usage limits, prevent fraud and abuse (including automated or excessive valuation requests), and protect the integrity and security of the service.

This identifier is not derived from device hardware or network signals (no device fingerprinting) and is not used for advertising or cross-app/website tracking.

3. Purpose of processing

Information is processed only to:

• extract license plate information from uploaded images,
• generate and display estimated plate values,
• authenticate users and manage accounts,
• operate community, leaderboard, marketplace, and chat features (including publishing content you choose to post),
• enforce platform rules, prevent abuse, and manage usage limits and subscriptions,
• maintain security, stability, and functionality of the Platform,
• provide customer support and handle account requests (including deletion),
• comply with applicable legal obligations.

4. Legal basis for processing

We process personal data only where there is a lawful basis to do so.

4.1 Service performance (requested by the user)

Processing images, extracted plate attributes, valuation results, and account/authentication data is necessary to provide the services you request (including sign-in, valuation, and community features).

4.2 Consent (where required)

Where required by applicable law, processing is based on your consent, provided through your voluntary actions within the Platform (such as capturing or uploading an image, tapping "Post to public leaderboard", posting listings/comments, or using community features). You may withdraw consent for optional processing by stopping the relevant activity and/or adjusting device permissions.

4.3 Legitimate interests

Certain technical and device-related data (including the anonymous usage-limit identifier) may be processed based on our legitimate interests in maintaining security, preventing fraud and abuse, enforcing usage limits, ensuring platform safety, and ensuring stability of the Platform.

4.4 Legal obligations

Information may be processed where required to comply with applicable law or lawful requests by authorities.

5. Image processing and visibility

5.1 Image processing

To provide license plate extraction and valuation functionality, images are securely transmitted to our backend systems and processed using automated image analysis technologies.

Image processing is performed solely for the purpose of extracting license plate attributes and generating an estimated valuation result.

5.2 Default (private) image handling

Images uploaded for valuation are not publicly visible by default and are used to deliver the valuation request and related platform functions (such as support, security, abuse prevention, and deletion management).

5.3 Public leaderboard posting (user-initiated)

If you tap a feature such as "Post to public leaderboard", you are choosing to publish content to other users within the Platform. Depending on what the Platform allows at the time of posting, the published content may include your username/profile, valuation results, plate attributes, and any image you choose to include.

You can remove your public post at any time. Removing a post removes it from public view, subject to limited technical backup retention described below.

5.4 Restrictions on use

• Images are not used for advertising or marketing.
• We do not sell personal data.
• We do not share personal data with advertising networks, data brokers, or third parties for their own marketing purposes.

6. Community, marketplace, and chat

The Platform includes community and marketplace features that allow users to publish content visible to other users, including public leaderboard posts, marketplace listings, and comments.

Marketplace chat messages are not publicly visible. Messages are intended to be seen by the chat participants. We may access and review chat messages when necessary to operate the service, prevent fraud and abuse, investigate or respond to user reports, enforce our Terms, ensure platform safety, or comply with legal obligations. Access is limited to authorized personnel on a need-to-know basis.

In-app reporting and user blocking tools are provided to help maintain a safe environment.

Important note about public content

If you publish content publicly (for example to the public leaderboard), other users may be able to view, screenshot, or re-share it outside the Platform. We cannot control how other users use information once they have access to it.

7. User-initiated sharing outside the Platform

The Platform may allow you to share certain content (for example, valuation results or images) using the sharing features of your device's operating system.

Any content shared using these features is shared solely at your discretion and outside our control. We do not determine the recipients of such shared content and do not receive information about where or with whom the content is shared.

8. Data sharing

Information may be shared only with:

• infrastructure and hosting providers supporting the Platform,
• technical service providers supporting app functionality and security,
• authentication providers (Apple and Google) when you choose to use their sign-in buttons,
• Apple App Store or Google Play for purchase validation,
• authorities where required by applicable law.

These recipients may include providers of cloud hosting, database and storage services, authentication services, error monitoring and crash diagnostics, and (if used) messaging infrastructure required to operate chat features. Depending on the provider's infrastructure, data may be stored or processed outside the United Arab Emirates with appropriate safeguards.

Third-party providers act as data processors and are permitted to process personal data only to deliver services to us and only in accordance with our instructions and contractual obligations. Third-party processors that receive personal data are contractually required to provide the same or equivalent protection as described in this Privacy Policy and required by applicable guidelines and law.

Personal data is not sold. We do not share personal data with advertising networks, data brokers, or third parties for their own marketing purposes.

9. Tracking and advertising

We do not use personal data for advertising purposes.

The Platform does not track users across third-party apps or websites and does not use data for targeted advertising or profiling.

10. Retention and deletion

We retain user-associated data only for as long as necessary to provide the Platform and for legitimate operational purposes (such as security and abuse prevention), unless a longer retention period is required by applicable law.

10.1 How long we keep data (practical rule)

Valuation images (private by default): stored temporarily to provide plate extraction and valuation, handle support requests, protect against abuse, and manage deletions. We delete or de-identify them when they are no longer needed for these purposes, and they are permanently deleted upon account deletion.

Public posts (leaderboard/marketplace) and related content: stored until you remove the post/listing or delete your account (subject to backups below).

Valuation history, usage records, and security information (including the anonymous usage-limit identifier): retained for a limited period as needed for app functionality, fraud/abuse prevention, and platform integrity, and deleted or de-identified when no longer needed, and upon account deletion (subject to legal requirements).

Crash logs/diagnostics: retained only as long as needed to identify, diagnose, and fix issues, then deleted or de-identified.

10.2 Account deletion

Account deletion can be initiated within the Platform in the Account/Settings area. You can also request account and associated data deletion via: https://platexpert.ae/delete-account

When you delete your account, we permanently delete user-associated data, including:

• uploaded images,
• processing and valuation records,
• user-generated content and interactions (including public leaderboard posts),
• chat messages,
• reports and block relationships,
• purchase and usage records.

Backups: Limited technical backups may persist for a short period where technically required, after which they are overwritten or deleted.

10.3 Children's data

PlateXpert is a general-audience service and is not specifically directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that a child has provided personal information, we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

11. User rights

You may:

• request access to personal data associated with your account,
• request correction of inaccurate account/profile information,
• delete your account and associated data at any time,
• withdraw consent for optional processing activities where applicable (for example by disabling device permissions or stopping use of optional features).

12. Security

We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse, including secure transmission of data, restricted access controls, and safeguards designed to protect stored data.

Access to personal data is limited to authorized personnel and service providers strictly on a need-to-know basis.
